Thank you to Suki Xaio, Adekemi Ajayi and Jo Hacking for creating an informative and safe space to think about how we can make being a woman of colour an advantage.

This event was run in collaboration with the MBIE Women of Colour Network. The kōrero centred around embracing diversity as a strength and identifying allies in order to influence the system.

Key takeaways

  • Identify and own your unique values
  • Good to know some of the experiences others have  gone through, that there is help and support available and that conversations are being had
  • There's value in flipping my and others' perspective and seeing how being a woman of colour can be a unique advantage
  • Owning and valuing our lived experience as women of colour and the importance of allyship
