Working to strengthen social cohesion in Aotearoa

Eileen (or Ai Ling 霭玲 in Chinese) is a fourth-generation Chinese New Zealander who was born and raised in Christchurch.

She is an Advisor in the Community and Partnerships team at the Ministry for Ethnic Communities. Eileen works with and for ethnic communities in Christchurch, helping to increase social cohesion and ensuring that Aotearoa New Zealand is a place where everyone feels welcome, valued and empowered to be themselves. As part of this role, she has been able to lead and contribute to some interesting and rewarding work, particularly within the valuing ethnic diversity space, which she loves!

Eileen is passionate about learning languages, travelling, organising social events and is good at keeping herself busy. She has worked, travelled and lived in 25 different countries, but Aotearoa is where her home and family are. She is a huge animal lover and a self-confessed crazy cat lady at home with her two cats.
