Join us as we come together to celebrate International Women's Day and wāhine toa with speakers Prue Kapua and Saunoamaali’i Dr Karanina Sumeo. There will be a chance to catch up/network while enjoying some light refreshments.
About the speakers
Prue Kapua (Ngāti Whakaue, Ngāti Kahungunu) has been National President of Māori Women's Welfare League since 2014. She is a lawyer and principal of Tamatekapua Law where her practice predominantly involves Maori Land Law and Tiriti o Waitangi, Resource Management, Family and Medico-legal issues.
Equal Employment Opportunities Commissioner Saunoamaali’i Dr Karanina Sumeo is the proud mother of a son and two daughters. She is of Samoan descent, originally from the village of Vailima, Upolu, Samoa. She was previously placed as the Principal Practice Advisor (Pacific) at Oranga Tamariki, working to improve outcomes for Pacific children and families. She has also had roles with the Ministry of Social Development, Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs, Tertiary Education Commission, and the Auckland District Health Board
