The MFE Women's Network is hosting a panel of speakers who will share their thoughts on 'The Impact of Covid-19 on Women.'

Research conducted by the Ministry for Women shows that during he pandemic and in general during other emergencies, the bulk of housefold labour falls on women. Women are also disproportionaly affected by labour market downturn like the one caused by the pandemic. New Zealand's labour force is highly segregated by industry and gender with women more likely to work in lower-paid jobs and perform unpaid and voluntary roles.

This Suffrage Day it feels appropriate to try and understand why and how the issues for women persist and what 'freedom' means in this context, 127 years after achieving suffrage.

The event panel will be moderated by MFE Women's Network member Anne Haira followed by breakout sessions and discussions. Attendees of all genders are welcome and encouraged to join.
