After two and a half years leading GWN's work, vision and progress, Liz Chin will be leaving her role as Programme Director on 20 March. She has accepted a Principal Advisor position in the Provincial Growth Unit at MBIE.

Ruth Shinoda, GWN's Steering Committee Chair said, "We have so much to thank Liz for in her tenure as Programme Director. Both in her work with us and our predecessors. GWN's strength, growth, and respected position in the public sector is due to her hard work and commitment to GWN and public sector women. We will miss her deeply and wish her all the best in her new role."

Liz offered this message to GWN members about her departure:

It’s with sadness that I step away from GWN on 20 March after two and half years at the helm but I am thrilled with GWN’s progress and the recent launch of the GWN Strategy 2020-2025.

I have had the privilege and pleasure of having one of the best jobs in the public sector that has enabled me to meet, work with, support, influence, and be a champion for public sector women, and more recently, other employee led networks.

This role has been a real highlight of my career. I especially value and happily think about the many connections made, the range of activities undertaken, the impacts made on individuals, and networks that have been very exciting and rewarding.  It’s also the only job where I have had so many important coffee meetings!

Thank you to all the amazing people who volunteer to lead, drive, and support women’s networks and other employee networks. You are awesome and do an important job that deserves greater recognition.

My sincere thanks to my team, including Auckland and Southern GWN Chairs and Working Group members, Ruth Bromley, Fred Joyet, Richie Atkinson, Naomi Ferguson, GWN’s Sponsor, the members of the former GWN Governance Group, and the GWN Steering Committee and many others for being with me and supporting me, all the way!

I look forward to following the progress and successes of the next chapter of GWN as I start in my new role at MBIE on 31 March in the Provincial Growth Unit as a Principal Advisor.

Ngā manaakitanga, ka kite anō

Liz
